Airbnb has so many abuses and violations under its belt: including contributing to real estate speculation and facilitating landlord abuses of rental agreements with the municipalities in which they operate, I will never use the service.

Cameras now can be hidden so well it would take an espionage expert to find them. If you fear for your safety, stay at a hotel. At least the hotel brand fears for its reputation in a way Airbnb does not seem to.
