I am a Star Wars fan. Sadly, I disagree with your 9/10 rating.
Luke’s island was, for me, a retreat into prequel writing and effects.
The characterization overall was flat, like cardboard, and the story relied on obvious gimmicks.
While part of Fischer’s scenes did her passing honor, I believe the back-to-life, floating through space scene should have been cut, both for continuity [nobody seemed amazed that she did that!?!?!] and out of respect for the deceased.
I went into it knowing I was going to watch a flawed film, just not this flawed.
