Margot is clearly an unreliable narrator. Just how unreliable is the question. Robert’s making a lot of bad choices, harmful ones. But the same people saying Margot is too young for him [or just plain too immature to deal with the terrible aspects of male entitlement] need to acknowledge, as you do, that this immaturity is the only perspective we get. I think she’s more sophisticated, at least by her own confession, than Robert: definitely less aiming to take advantage of — but she’s not sophisticated enough to trust implicitly. It is a good puzzle.

Overall, I found the piece more conversation-inspiring because of its topicality than its quality of writing.
