So, yes, I’m owning up to a rhetorical device I’m not proud of, which I use as a shorthand. Ideally, I’d make my point effectively without it. I’m a progressive who felt left out during the 2016 election cycle.
However, I make a nuance:
describing an oppressing group, like boardroom democrats, with a term which is pejorative only if you believe “boardroom” is an insult is qualitatively different than
describing an oppressed group, like feminists, with a term like “swooning couch”, which is generally associated with being pejorative.
