The theme is this: in a tolerant society, these folks would not have needed to hide anything. Nobody would be getting married as a "beard", etc.

While I find some of these anecdotes very interesting, the most important thing for me is allowing our current contributors to the world the freedom to be with the partner of his/her/their choosing.
